Dear Ones,
Sat Nam. Blessings to you from Guru Gobind Singh Sadan. I write you today, late in an already delayed election season in the hope that we can move forward together with hearts open to the spirit of universality embodied in the ideal of Khalsa.
Very few of you have been to China. Fewer still have taken the trouble to learn Chinese. Let me tell you something you probably do not know.
美国 (Měiguó) is the Chinese word for America. Literally, it means beautiful (美 Měi) place (国 guó). It is a unique and special title. There is no other country in the world with such a lovely name. It is based on an overall impression developed years ago. Even with today's geopolitical rivalries, America is still the Beautiful Place.
Our Chinese family would like the opportunity to vote in the coming election being administered in the Beautiful Place.
Attached is an official letter stating in some detail the legal case for allowing our Chinese family to participate.
There is no comparable legal case in the Siri Singh Sahib Corporation board records for barring our Chinese sisters and brothers from voting. All is based on hearsay. Nor is there any date or condition given whereupon their democratic right may be restored to them.
This is an ugly and discriminatory policy. It does not suit the Beautiful Place. It fouls its reputation and tries the patience and goodwill of our Chinese fellows. They know well the course of revolution. Many of their grandparents fought in the great war of liberation (1927-49).
Do not make them your enemies, O people of the Beautiful Place!

May the longtime sun shine upon you,
愿所有的爱围绕着你，
all love surround you,
你内在的纯净之光指引着你前进的道路。
and the pure light within you guide your way on.
